The engine is being installed, looks like end of December maybe January before it’s flying again. I’ll keep marching forward but if someone’s interested feel free to ask questions.

Thank you,

Eric

More picture, should be complete beginning of February.

Fresh annual, overhauled engine, controls rigged, new avionics, and much more.

Don’t know how you get much more turn “Turn Key” than this

Thank you,

Eric

I'm curious, why stay w/ a K, instead of going to an N, IO-520 or IO-550? Is there a significant price difference or availability difference?
I'm assuming this airplane is long gone by now.... just wondering as someone who has never has to overhaul / replace an engine.

I chose the IO-470K when I bought the plane for many reason, I decided to stick with it for the same reasons.

The IO-470K is a great engine for speed and fuel economy, it’s great! I can get 155-160 KTAS on 11-12.5 gallons per hour rich of peak (not getting into that debate just saying). I typically see 145-150 Knots indicated depending on loading.

The cost of overhaul is quite a bit of savings which, I just paid $45,xxx to have it overhauled by Popular grove. The STC for the 550 isn’t cheap and I’m pretty sure the 470K can burn auto fuel but I haven’t gone down that road.

I really enjoy the performance of this plane for the fuel burn and useful load. If you wanted a 520 or 550, I’d personally just prefer to purchase one that already has the conversion. Debonairs did come with the 520 if they were 33A. Many people look right past the 470 and it’s a shame it’s a wonderful engine, I’ve flown the 470, 520, and 550 in several different planes all good engines.

All personal preference

It has not sold :-)

Eric

Airplane is back to flying didn’t want to wake this thread up until then. Currently have 8 hours on the motor and heading for the first oil change at 10 hours. So far no oil has been burned.

PM if interested

A rare case of an airplane with "everything already done."

I'm not sure what else a prospective buyer might want.

Beautiful plane!
What's the guard thing over the gear switch in the photos?

It’s to help prevent gear ups, you just move it out of the way to pull the gear up.

Its pretty natural.

The person who has dragged their feet is going to be very lucky this plane has remained on the market for them.

The serious person would be hard-pressed to convince me what else this plane doesn't have that they need.

I flew back from Kansas City the other day at 7,500, 162 KTAS, 14 GPH ROP, and only 10 knots of wind, 170 knot ground speed. The IO-470K is a good performer!

Beautiful airplane.

Rings a bell for me because I have a 1965 Deb serial number CD917.

My airplane is not as nice as this. But pretty nice.

I have a recent 550 engine, GFC500 autopilot, tip tanks.

Avemco wouldn’t insure mine for more than $100K.
