Good BTers, I’m looking at partnering in a piper lance (slow, but big and affordable). The 7th seat would be a boon, as my family has just turned from 6 + a lap child to 7. Anyone here know about the piper kit required to install the 7th seat/JS? Local shop tells me they are unobtainium. Thanks in advance.

I flew a Cherokee 6 with 7 seats a few times and loved it. The insurance for the owner was not horrible since it is fixed gear. The Lance also had some aircraft shipped from the factory with 7 seats and you do have to trade fuel for people/cargo. I believe full fuel weight is aroun 850-900 pounds dependent upon the airframe and accessories.
You may be able to find some seats and parts at Cutter, APW, or a few of the smaller salvage organizations. Some were removed for Basic Med (STC SA04064NY owned by the AOPA) and everything is sitting in an Owner’s garage and waiting a purchase from someone who has the right $$. Most owners will likely hold onto the seat, if they came from the factory with it.
You or your A&P or the repair facility’s parts finder may want to reach out to the Piper Flyer forums or Piper-centric repair facilities like KCAC, or Seal, too! That seat will be hard to find.
