Fly in the "cannonball position".

I tried that. I have a friend that has a Lanceair 4P. It cruises at close to 250+ kts and is supposed to be a four seater. To fly in the pilot or co-pilot seats you are resting your chin on your knee during the flight. You would have to be a double leg amputee just to fit in the rear seats.

Kinda glad I missed that whole mullet thing

BS, the Carolinas are full of them still.

Man, I need the coffee spitting smiley right now Brannigan! :bat:

What I was trying to say is that I'm a little older than the Mullet crowd, I think....

Graduated HS in 81, in the US Navy for 6 years, got out and have had to wear a suit and tie ever since. Mullet's just never quite made it into my repertoire.

And just to set the record straight Miguel I was born in Utah, finished HS in Oklahoma, and lived in just about every state in between the two.

Now, after reviewing my post I'm with you Brannigan. BS, how did i miss the whole thing? :ahhh:  :harhar: :dancing:

The TBM is on my list for next plane, with the G1000 re-fit the older ones would work fine for me. Here's a brief marketing piece on operating costs.

Maybe you're right Yves.

You usually are.

Perhaps I'm dreaming thinking I'll be carrying a PC12 worth of people all the time. Maybe a TBM is the way to go.

Mullet is a lifestyle choice. Can be worn with any kind of attire including suits.

How often do you reach the carrying limits (weight and space) of your Bo ?

Do you anticipate that the availability of a bigger plane will change your mission ?

I don't reach the carrying limits ever. But, I also don't plan trips with more than 3 other people ever.

I just don't like the idea of spending millions on a TBM and not having the option to carry any more than my Bonanza.

In other words. I like my Bonanza. I like flying it. I like the speed it gives me already. I can already do Atlanta to Nassau in a little over 3 hours non stop. I already have great capability.

"Speed" isn't necessarily what I need. I like flying. I don't have to be there in 1 hour.

The issue is the cost of the plane. On the other hand, we're young business men, we need to set our goals right.

There is something about that TBM that a piper does not have. You have to admit. Put a TBM next to a Meridian and you know why it's more expensive. The TBM is so nicely build. So strong, so fast. I'm gonna dig into the TBM numbers in a few, I can't hold it anymore.

I'm dreaming of a G58 in the near future. But also on a King air 90, and the TBM would do it also for me.

Buying a 150 hour block on a very nice king air 90 is not the same thing of having your own plane. It is not. Life is about achievements, professionally and personally. You can have nice kids and be a proud man. You should be. Life is short. Enjoy.

I'm with ya Yvés. I haven't piloted the C90 but can tell you the Baron is my favorite out of those three for pure piloting pleasure... it just feels better than anything else I have flown. The TBM is a great personal fast transport but is much heavier on the controls. Put it this way, in the Baron I can't wait to turn the autopilot off and hand fly it, in the TBM it really doesn't matter whether the autopilot is on or off (don't get me wrong I do like it). I understand the C90 feels very much like the Baron, but a bit heavier. I can tell you the Royal Duke feels very much like the Baron just a bit heavier on the controls but a nicer hand flyer than the TBM. The PC12 is a great hauler but it is surgically devoid of character, very docile handling but frankly boring. Just for perspective the Cirrus is other end of the hand flyer ranking and I can't wait to turn the autopilot on when flying it.

I took this video when I flew the TBM850 a month ago

Even though I'm not really one of those cool guys travelling with my girl and a toothbrush I think the TBM is the sexiest beast out there.

So much so that the idea of fitting my mission to the airplane doesn't sound bad at all. Just me and the wife and kids with light baggage sounds just fine.

It's just a question of whether the cool factor is worth the $$$ to you. If I had the money I'd do it in a second. Life is short and we ain't coming back.

They really made PILOT seats in the TBM.

And if you land hard, they are rated for up to 26G impacts (I don't think my spine is rated for that though).

You can have a TBM700 below 1M these days. And Jet fuel is 1/3rd of the price of Avgas in Europe (if you do it the right way)

Basically pocket change......

And its not THAT small of a plane. You can't expect to fill 6 seats + luggage but it's more than girl + toothbrush.

As far as the interior space issue goes...

When the Lear 23 came out & people were complaining how small it was on the inside, Bill Lear said "well, you can't stand up in a Cadillac either"

If you want a performer, this is the plane to get.......if you want room, plenty of other a/c fit the bill.
