Maybe one of you Bo guys will take pity on me and trade rides.

Never tried that down low. Question (1) I think dependent of your body type, size, flexibility, trip requirements etc. I’m usually 1-2 people and Mooney is very comfortable, fast, efficient and built stout. oh, you have an acclaim! nice bird. I admire the Continental with the twin turbos. do you have the 310HP? my bravo has 1100+ hours, and I have flown about 600 of them. My son (ATP) and ex (CFI) have the rest. still on its factory engine, and its been 100% solid. This the plane's 3rd panel. the first was the factory KX-155/KLN-89B/Argus7000, and we quickly replaced it with the 530/430 panel you saw in the ad. Unfortunately, I was sick for a few years, and the plane sat so when we got flying again it had no WAAS and no ADS-B. I decided to put in a mid-life panel and went with G3X/G5/GTN750xi/GNC355/ GTX345/GMA35C/G500

yes, the tail is on backwards! the V stab and the rudder are the same piece of tin as the H stab and the elevators! unlike most small planes, trim is not an anti-servo tab, but rather the entire tailplane tilts on a jackscrew like the 737 (for better or worse!).
I'm 6'1" tall and on the narrower side, so I'm pretty comfortable. I've flown with rounder people, and they weren't very comfortable. it definitely has a sports car feel to the interior, unlike, say, the 182, and its not as easy to get in and out of the pax dor.
I plan 25gph in the climb (more like 26.2 actual, 30 minutes to 15,000+), and 20 (more like 18.5 actual) in cruise at 30/2400 and 78% power. With 89 gallons, its a 3.5 hour airplane at anywhere from 180-200+ KTAS from 8KL-18,000ft, so i stick to 7-800nm legs. I can pull it back and get more endurance, but my bladder doesnt like that so I've only ever done it a few times when I needed a 100nm extra.
My son really likes flying the the plane too. here he is showing off his ATP-level skills

The vertical stab does not move on a 737, so a Mooney tail is closer to a Jetstar. .

I didn’t fully appreciate the genius of Al Mooney until I flew the M18 Mite. The Mite is just like the bigger Mooneys right down to the trim system that moves the entire tail, and rubber doughnut trailing link gear. And it flies just like a Mooney, just one with a gross of 850lbs! Once you get past how darn little you are, it flys like any other airplane. Want good gas mileage? Pull it back and you can get 40-50mpg depending on altitude. Here is a picture of mine. Turned out to be the same color and year (‘56) as the T28, and of course 1/20 the fuel burn! I do not have the 310hp change. 280hp. It’s about 13.5 minutes to 17,000’ @ 135KTAS at SL burning ~34 GPH. First Mooney was an Ovation II with the 310 STC. 900+ hours in her in about 3 1/2 years.
Can’t remember cruising ROP ever, so at LOP 70 degrees at 17k KTAS ~214. 8-10k speeds are more in the 190 range LOP. Increasing 3/thousand feet. Cruise fuel burn LOP is ~16.GPH. 102 useable. Long legs if you want them.
Odd I’m 6’1 1/2, son is 6’4”. Both tall and lean. His knees/head don’t fit in a V or a 36 Bo.

Another Al Mooney design! He finished his career at Lockheed after losing his company.

Username Protected wrote: Is the factory open or closed for spares? Where do you get support?
--paul It's open, just not building new planes. Spares are available, but patience might be required for some things. I got new control surface skins through a service center & factory last year for hail repair. They were ordered weeks before I had a slot for the work to get done, but it all worked out. V-tail owners aren't as lucky, unfortunately.

The Archer is supposed to be the same width as a 172, but SWMBO and I are hip to hip in that plane, which is a pain because the trim is on the floor between the seats. i have very little time in cessnas, but to me they felt like riding in a buick. is the 177 narrower than the 172? flew a lot of cherokees, and they feel wider than the mooney. a mooney feels more like a porsche.
