If you read the studies you'd see one is from 2019, using US Govt. data from 2017, when Tesla was a smaller part of the e-car installed base. The other is from 2021. Feel free to post some more recent studies, using data that doesn't come from the Tesla marketing department.

I agree with MC's assessment. We have a model Y, Subaru, and Tundra pickup truck. The Y is driven the most miles by far and the other two only when needed. It's well built, fun, quiet, low maintenance, and has the convenience of being charged at the house with my solar panels and battery. If we have a power outage, no big deal, nearly everything in the house still operates and I can still charge the car. I've become more impressed with the car over time and my wife loves it.

Article from April 29, 2022, so about 6 weeks ago, which counts as recent. Kelley Blue Book has a reputation for providing objective data on the automotive market. Their data comes from registrations, actual owners having cars, and not anything Tesla provides.

So the numbers are solid, and don't come from Tesla, despite your assumption they do.

Lots of conjecture in here. Lots of religion.

Efficiency and cost are irrelevant independently. Until we start using levelized cost as the master metric and building in a carbon price based on current direct air capture figures, we are comparing apples and crab apples.

Re: electric GA, it'd make a lot more sense to store most of the energy as liquid H2, and just buffer power delivery with a small comparatively heavy chemical battery. Cooling is a problem for fuel cells (ask ZeroAvia), and liquid H2 has energy-of-cold in spades.

I never questioned your numbers for current market share, I asked for studies on average yearly mileage for EVs, which this is not. The only numbers you've provided on miles per year did, indeed, come from Tesla.
Here, let me help. Here's a study in the UK using odometer readings required to be reported on their 3rd-year registration. New EVs averaged 9,435 miles/year, once again less than the average for all new cars (10,377 miles/year). To be fair, the average was pushed up by diesel cars, which have a much bigger share of the market there than they do here. https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-ne ... 9500-year/
As I said before, I was surprised. I merely searched for average EV miles per year and so far, all three studies I've found, using different methods, have said that EVs average fewer miles/year than the all-car average. If there's a study that shows the opposite, it must be buried deeper than the first 2 pages of search results.

I am not surprised that EVs have a lower average. they are range limited so the long trips will be done with conventional auto's

also EVs are not cheap so all the low income people will be using gasoline as a fuel
