One might ask who’d want to live under a dictatorship like Trudeau?

I don't "get" Canada.
First, "bless their hearts", and I mean that in the sincere way, and not in the southern "go @$#@ yourself" way. Wonderful, wonderful people.
That said, it has a highly educated population, high quality of life, technically advanced, land and resources beyond the dreams of avarice and a friendly trading partner that does a lot of the heavy lifting and practically no need of "border defense" because of geography.
Canada should be "killing it". How in the world it ends up on the rocks for stuff like this is beyond me.
Best, Rich

We call it the European city of North America, with fabulous food and a sweet exchange rate.

Thread drift, but this: we visited Montreal for Christmas, 2019, simply loved it. Like Paris, without the long plane ride or the dog poop.

When we visited Vancouver a few years back, the tour guide we hired told us that “the majority” of the very many new high-rise condo units in town were owned by absentee owners from China. Also, that nearly all remained vacant.

Far more interesting to me is the fact that the "monied" people of China are so anxious to get their money out. In similar fashion, when I visit my son in Mclean, VA, he points out house after house that are kept in pristine condition with elaborate attention to yards and landscaping that are simply empty. These are not cheap houses. Three to ten million is the norm.
With at lot less on line research than I would have thought, you can find connections to foreign countries where only the government officials have such assets.
