I sold a nice 340 RAM VII to a good friend ( who happened to start a very successful airline) he’s avoiding the Nav Canada fees like the plague, that you pay with the type of turboprop your looking at.

We flew it to Whitehorse recently, fits the mission, expensive enough.
He does have passes still on the airlines, thus slants his mission.

Your putting out estimates for $$$ on engine SB’s, have you considered how much Nav Canada is going to have it’s hands in your pocket?

If so, and your “good” with that …… I’m available to be adopted! :D :D

We have been paying the Nav Can fees with the 421 already. That really is the least of my concern. My partner had a 340 before he bought into the 421, cost of ownership has been the same give or take.

Are you planning to operate part 135 (or it’s Canadian equivalent), or are SBs mandatory in Canada in a way they are not in the US? What is making you treat those SBs as mandatory compared to others who clearly are not?

We are looking at all the options, I completely get it that SB's are not mandatory in the US for part 91. However when an engine is on a GMP I would expect that is would be done.

I am going through the maze of administration and regulations to see if and how we can comply with the Canadian 604 regulations (Basically a private operating certificate that Canada has for turboprops and light jets.)

Completely get that Canada may have different rules, I am mostly expressing my ignorance of such.

And to your point about being on an engine program... Fundamentally I don't think engine programs have much to do with engineering or safety, they have everything to do with creating a steady revenue stream for the program company. So... I suspect that if they have any legal way to get out of SBs that cost $100k+, they will do so. :doh:
