I can stand under my T tail just like a Cessna pilot can squat under their wing.

Aircraft: Seabee Aerostar 700
I have flown virtually all the PA28 and Pa32 variants (andPA34) in hauling my kids out west. the tapered wing variants are much better in hot/high situations. I think the Hershey bar wings work well at sea level on a standard day. I have an average of 100 to 500 hours in each variant.

If you fly west turbocharging works very well If I buy another one as I age out of the Aerostar it will be one of the turbocharged models. they have manual or fixed waste gates and while giving up some performance are very simple but require changing manifold pressure with altitude . I am currently working to get a turbo Dakota PA36 that is a hangar queen and will need a lot of work.

So can I just say, “just because…”?

Doug, I will always be the first to get behind a "just because" answer. In fact, I prefer it over someone trying to rationalize their feelings about something like this.

In general, I'm a bigger fan of Cessnas over Pipers, but I will say that the low wing planes feel more aeronautical. When you step out onto that wing after a flight you are Sky Captain, surveying your new adventures. When you step out of a Cessna, you cower under the wing and try not to bash your skull or trip over the wheel.

They are easy to tell apart away from the plane as well. Cessna pilots seem to always rub their forehead and acute Cessna pilots usually have a diamond shaped tattoo, about 1/8" in size somewhere on their forehead that triggers vocal responses whilst rubbing.

I have quite a bit of time in a 1980 Saratoga fixed gear. Buddy flew it all over and it was bullet proof. Literally if it fits it flies. 145 cruise was not great, but miles x weight / fuel was awesome.

I wish I had my speed and his space. That baggage up front is pretty sweet
