Quote: Regarding the number of Conquests for sale, it is ONE, the other has a 1.15m offer that is being considered. The one that remains for sale seems like a timed out 425… maybe a parts plane. Correct, the other one as 12,300 hrs so it becomes a pumpkin at 12,500. So for all intents and purposes, zero for sale.

A couple years ago Cessna issued a new phase inspection that put a life limit on the lower forward carry though spar strap. I heard some people say a manufacturer can't do that, and if you're a current owner you don't have to abide by the new revision of the maintenance manual which has that phase. But if you sell it the new owner must start using the latest version unless they get an AAIP. Lastly you can replace it but I heard it probably a $90k job. Cessna has parts in stock.
I know a couple part 135 operators that ran the planes to 12,500 and then parted them out.

Quote: 90k to revive a conquest sounds reasonable. Why part it out? I agree, especially since the previous operator only got $75k for their airframe less engines. That one on controller is asking $300k with engines on MORE but I can't image they are worth all that much. Seems like it would be a better deal to deal with the spar issue and keep flying.

Mostly you see a hangar full of junk and a box of parts in the corner they claim is an experimental work in progress, although there is no progress year over year. As for the slowdown I don't know why, usually a pretty good barometer for what the market is doing. There are also two more hangars available at a nearby airport.

I just dropped >$90K on my Conquest at West Star for some 2500-hour inspections called for on the SID (along with some other repairs). I'm just shy of 9000 hours total time. If I still own it at 12,500 I guess I'll just do the repair and keep on truckin'.

My view is that it is shortage pricing. 2021 pricing was mid-900s for a 22T GTS, if memory serves. However, I believe they are into 2023 and I don't know what the cost is for a new one now. This is happening across GA with some popular aircraft. A new Diamond DA62 is a 2024 delivery now for what I understand to be about $1.75 mm, and there was a recent ad for a 2020 with 275 TT, out of warranty or nearly so, for $1.7. So my guess is that this is all shortage-based market pricing.

I don't think this is accurate – I know there are some IIs in Australia well past the 20,000 mark and still flying commercially. 425 is a different airframe but I'm sure there are at least a few flying well past 12,500 hours.

Here's the document on the carry through. This is the MSB, but they also made it a new phase in the most recent revision of the MM.
I don't know of any conquest I's flying beyond 12,500 hours but theoretically if you made an election in the MX logs to stay with the previous version of the MM then the new version with the new phase would not apply to you and you could keep flying. That's my interpretation of how it works anyway.

That's my interpretation of how it works anyway. I sent the MSB to my maintenance provider. Here is his response: "We are already doing this inspection…you have the access panels previously installed per CQB 57-01. We pull those panels at all the phase inspections and do the visual inspection even though you don’t have the 9300 hours yet. There’s nothing to it unless we happen to see something visually that could be a crack, then we have to do an eddy current inspection which would run $1000 or so. Its only a BIG deal if there is a crack."
