Soo... tempting from a nostalgia standpoint. It could work here on the ranch.
I owned a 67 IH scout with the short hard top pickup cab for a few years in college. It was a great off road machine. but it barely did 60 mph wide open down the highway with the little 4 banger. Leldon

It does have a rear bench seat. And you’re right Leldon, with the 411 rear end it’s not really a highway vehicle, however the performance off road is rather incredible. When I first got it running I’d take it to well known off road spots and watch as people in Tacomas and Jeeps stared in amazement at my classic creation. That being said I’ve driven it from eagle pass to houston to canyon lake to possum kingdom lake and one time even towed a sailboat a few hundred miles with it. Got some interesting looks on that trip.

I had a 73 Scout II with a V8. The Scout is one rugged truck, great for off roading. It took a beating and kept on going. The steel bodies were sure to rust and in my case salted roads in the winter ate the steel up quickly.

My Dad and oldest sister (who was 14 at the time) drove a relatively new 1961 Scout 80 from California to Oklahoma in August one year. Same 4 cyl and standard trans. They both said it was an adventure never to be repeated. Wish I had the extra cash and a need/use for it. I'm just one senseless purchase away from being free to make all the senseless purchases I can afford.

No disaster Jim but high heat, long distance and low speed were all against them.

After the EMP attack, you’ll still be able to drive this International around. Something to think about…

I'm just one senseless purchase away from being free to make all the senseless purchases I can afford. It was August when I towed a sailboat from Canyon Lake to Possum Kingdom lake. Temperature was just below the 8th layer of hell and just above the 7th. Think I was 16, 17 at the time. Took a buddy with me, he did not have a good time. All of the trips I had in this thing Id gladly do again. It’s been a memory maker that’s for sure. I drove it to school my last day senior year, and I didn’t have a parking permit. They booted and ticketed my love. Under make and model, the security guard just wrote “ugly”… fortunately I had a good relationship with the principal and staff and they just laughed and gave me the key for the boot.

Make and model: Ugly. That's hilarious. Benjamin if I had the money I'd buy that thing for a knockaround. Would make a nice bookend to the Scout I already have. Unfortunately Hotgranny would kill me and bury me in it.
