Yes but why get the crew? Get the 525S. Or any S. Same amount of time. If you have that much time it must have been super easy for you with all of your experience.

How about getting your multi in a DA 42? No carb heat or prop control. More similar to what you are in now than a Seminole.

My plan has always been to go turbine so didn't care to take my time and really learn piston multi. I just found a nearby place to grind it out and they use Seminoles. At this point I've already put down the deposit, so carb heat it is!

I wish there was. You can get a CE-500 type in a 501SP course, which you can do single pilot. Doesn't help fly a 560 since you still need to do SPE. I'll do CE-500 crew initial, fly with mentor as I gradually do all the work, then SPE, then all set. Not a big deal. Mike C.

Mike C. A DA 42 is more jet-like, therefore less to unlearn when transitioning to jets. At any rate, sounds like it's not an option for him at this point.

The turbojet are section (b). Just having 1000 turbine doesn't do it. (b)(1) says you qualify if you have another type rating, as long as it isn't also SOE required. (b)(2) says 1000 hours in two different jets. (b)(3) says you have PIC military background in jets. (b)(4) says you have 500 hours in the same type of jet. (b)(5) says you have 2000 total, 500 turbine. I qualify under (b)(5), 2000 total, 500 turbine. If you don't qualify, then you need the 25 hours SOE in section (g). For a new jet pilot, even one who qualifies for no SOE, the insurance will require at least that much, so it really isn't a material issue, doesn't change anything in actual fact. Mike C.

Ah, that's why.. needs to be multi-engine. "Have logged at least 2,000 hours of flight time, of which 500 hours were in turbine-powered airplanes of the same class of airplane for which the type rating is sought." I only had 100 KingAir and the rest PC12...

It is easy, buy a plane already setup that way, such as a 550, 551, S550, or 560. The spar runs under the read bench seat in a 501, so there's place to stick the toilet under you. The rear bench seat is also 3 passengers of capacity, so not easy to replace in the rest of the cabin. If you want private facilities, and comfortably hold 8 people beyond that, you need a bigger cabin. Mike C.
