Jason thank you — very focused on an A36. Should we pivot and consider G36s I will call you. All the best. Ashton

I'm curious, what is desirable about that 5 year timeframe? I get wanting a 2015-2000 G36 (if that were the requirement then you obviously want a newer aircraft), but I've seen 198x A36's that were in better shape than ones built after 2000 and abused by disrespectful owners. If it were me, I'd be looking for a '78-'83 A36 that had been well maintained, upgraded recently with newer avionics and a fresh mill, would have potentially better U/L and is "pristine". But I've owned ones made in 1976 and ones made in 2019, and not anything in between so maybe there's something desirable in the 2000-2005 vintage that I don't know about. And good luck with <1500TTAF for a 20 year old A36, that is <75 hours per year, which is pretty low and may translate to some years when the plane didn't fly but did accumulate problems from sitting idle.

Not harshing on your request, but I think you may be overlooking the fact that after 20 years, pristine is in the money spent every year on upkeep of the aircraft, not in the age or total hours.

Do you have any other requirements to share regarding your mission, budget, constraints, or needs (typical flight, passenger types, A/C, TKS, Glass or Steam, TN, rear baggage, etc.?).

Finally, I think a NA A36 with Tips has more range in fuel hours than normal humans in bladder hours (assuming you run LoP). But if you are going TN, you should definitely get tips!

Here's an example of a plane which while older than your criteria, has obviously been well maintained, and would be a great example (IMO) of "Pristine", but it all depends on your mission...

Matt brings up good points. Any post '87? should get you past the spar web AD. If you need payload / range look for earlier models.

As the owner of a fairly pristine A36 from that era, I would say some reasons for wanting a plane from those years might include:
> Older planes with the number of hours specified are likely to be a hangar queens. 100 hours per year for a 2005 would be 1,600 hours.
> Most of the Bonanzas from 1999 through 2008 or so had a KFC225 instead of a KFC200 in older planes. I've been very happy with the KFC225. Of course some older planes have had autopilot replacements and some of the new units are very nice.
> The G1000 was okay, but is it really as capable as a G3X with all the options? Not in my opinion - but then again I like my six-pack with the Aspen in the middle, so I may not be the one to comment on that topic.
> Bonanzas "gained weight" by adding things that most pilots want, like air conditioning, (which I wouldn't go without). or standby alternators, or better soundproofing, or . . . you get the idea. Aluminum didn't weigh any less in the 70s than in the 2000's. I also suspect that some of those "light weight" planes from the 60's and 70's haven't been weighed in decades.
> I won't even get into all of the panel and yoke issues from pre-84 since politics (or is it religion) are not allowed on this board.

I completely agree that continuous maintenance by qualified people is most important regardless of the age of the plane.

Phil - couldn’t agree more. All your points on the vintage are excellent and aftermarket avionics superior to the G1000 suite. One wonders why anyone would by a G36, other than what I suspect was Matt’s reason - the 2020 year end tax breaks?

Yeah, in my case the wife said “get a new Bonanza” and I said “ok”. :D

Lavish maintenance and hangar storage is vital. My 67 V35 (purchased ‘82) with TKS, full Mike Smith speed mods, new glass, panel and paint remains a joy to fly.
