Good thing I was sitting down. It takes a village to raise a Raptor. That is probably why JPL, SpaceX and the other big guys are not successful. They don't read facebook...

My airplane was insured from the minute all the parts arrived at my house. And I wasn't in a community hangar! Watching him walk around the airplane with the engine running and no one at the controls is... well, unusual. But I guess he's okay with that. I wonder if insurance would cover that?

Really? We're pinching pennies on insurance now? My question is who in their right mind would insure that thing.

Letting the engine run with no one at the controls like he did would qualify as gross negligence in my book. Why would you take that kind of risk, especially with no insurance and presumably no liability protection?

I would insure the hull (no liability) for just about anything flying for an annual premium equal to 120% of declared value. With Peter involved, I would be pretty nervous about liability, but again if the premium sufficiently exceeds the coverage limits, I would go for it. Just plan on 100% chance of having to pay out, tack on expenses and profit, and you would have a reasonable premium. Just make sure you collect in full before coverage is effective.

One thing I found noteworthy was his comment beginning at 4:20 where he talks about the placement of the static port and how it is still giving erroneous indications on the ground. He concludes by saying that essentially he doesn't think there is a solution and he's just going to live with it. That's the spirit. If you watch the video using Youtube's 1.5x speed function the acceleration on the runway looks pretty sporty. Watching the IAS instead of ground speed on the G3X adds to the effect.

Static port doesn’t work... not a problem... it’s totally cool! That’s how all the manufacturers do it!

He was airborne again. Got up to 2700 or so then a nearly 800fpm, low airspeed return to the airport.
