Hi everyone! I am as excited as can be at finally becoming a Beechcraft owner. At the age of 12, my father’s friend took me for a ride in his 35 Bonanza. That imprinted pretty heavily in my young mind. I went on to a fulfilling airline career that I’ve just retired from but I’ve always dreamed of owning a Beechcraft. However, my first venture into aircraft ownership was with a Cessna 205. I have owned that aircraft for the past 15 years. I am currently begging for forgiveness from my wife because I didn’t ask permission before buying our new Bonanza. True to form, I again put the cart in front of the horse and we now have a 1964 Cessna 205 and 1980 A36. I find myself dividing my time between bonding with our new A36 and getting the 205 ready to sell.

Wow, the Beech flys like no other! Now that I have more time on my hands, I’m really looking forward to putting in some air time visiting friends and family and who knows what else across this great country. There is a squawk list that I’m attending to on the Beech that was negotiated into the purchase price. Addressing these few items is helping me bond with this wonderful airplane.

As a friend of mine said to me when I asked him “why do you have three airplanes? He replied “because I can’t afford four!” I think I’m meant to be a one plane owner at a time so look forward to emptying the stable a bit to keep the thoroughbred.

You caught me! I sat here trying to figure out how to get my avatar up and add some photos. But I have to resize them then decided to just go to bed. My first “homework” assignment as a BT member.

Welcome Scott. Congrats on your new acquisition. The A 36 is a very nice airplane (as are all Beech models)

On a side, just curious, who did you fly for during your airline career, and what did you fly?

Congratulations on the new A36 Scott. You will LOVE it. Heck, I'm sure you already do love it. You're right, the Beech flys like no other.

I'm based at Fullerton. There are a few of us Beech owners here in the So Cal area that meet up from time to time. Hopefully we'll get to see your new plane in the near future.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I’m still trying to make the pictures I already have fit here. I have to resize them on my laptop. But I’ll post them up as soon as I do. Matt, I flew for Continental/United Airlines. I started as a Flight Engineer on the B-727. I went on to fly it as a First Officer then transitioned to the B-737. Eventually checking out as a Captain on the 737, then the MD-80. I finished up my career on the B-787. I retired from the Dreamliner into my Dream Machine!

Scott,

You've finally found the right pilot forum and the right plane.

You shouldn't have any trouble selling your 205. Heavy haulers are in demand, especially if the engine has been upgraded.

Well, here she is! If you are seeing it, I guess I was successful re-sizing a picture. Not sure I can remember how to do it again.

Come join us at the BeechFyIn at Ramona on Saturday, May 1st. There is a group of us Bonanza owners in the So Cal area who meet up from time to time. It'd be good to add a another A36 to the pack!
