Tenth time is a charm. It has a bit of a lean, but it did not topple over.

Edit: A few minutes later ... KABOOM. NASA commentator mentioned a methane leak.

Something is wrong with the engine mixtures. Random bursts of sooty exhaust, and different colors for different engines even at the same time (orange, blue, etc). Seems like they have not yet dialed in the raptor mixture control.

These two engines are definitely not at the same mixture:

Off mixture wastes fuel or oxidizer and reduces thrust.

Maybe they transposed sensors which would lead to both engines ending up at opposite extremes of mixtures.

Are you trying to resurrect the twin vs single AND the LOP/ROP argument all in one post? Impressive!

It was not a RUD.

It was a rapid in-situ de-fueling ;)

Maybe don’t bounce the landing next time?

Still making good progress.

SN11 is up soon.

RISDF just doesn't have the same ring to it as RUD does though

I’m guessing different throttle settings. One of the objectives on this flight was to test throttle response on the raptors. It would make sense to play with one and not mess with the other one lest your break it. That keeps the third one (which I believe was shut down at the time of that picture) as a reserve for the landing maneuver if the throttle excursions brick one engine.

I noticed that as well. The engine on the right is running way too rich. I can't say whether that was intentional...

Scott's awesome. I retract my "Rapid In-Situ De-Fueling" acronym in favor of his "RUSH": Rapid, Unscheduled Second Hop.

And with that we have another Starship milestone: The first prototype to fly twice ;)
