Quite astonishing. Good test flight. Under complete control, I thought.

I messed up my first few landings, too... about 55 years ago.

Then, they became more reliable...

Interesting that this flight had two over-rotation events:

- the pitch to horizontal for the belly flop
- the pitch back to the vertical for the landing

That was the straight wing variant in the fly-off. They’re going to launch the Tamarack version on the adjacent pad next.

Yikes. Big boom. Glad they didn't take out the other booster sitting there!

Does anyone know how to go down there and watch a launch?

Robert

Ok smart asses...

What’s the best place to view from? Airport to fly into?

Boca Chica is not exactly a booming metropolis (ok, there have been some booms there recently...).

Brownsville TX most likely to fly in. As far as where to watch I would look for coastal hotels or vacation rentals. All the you tubers are filming from the balcony of a rental.

Shrapnel from the explosion may have damaged the other booster.

Musk’s Twitter feed is also uncharacteristically quiet ...

So cool!

Looks like something flew off the rocket when they reignited the engines.

I hope they let the FAA know that their vehicle experienced an anomaly so that they can get another launch license.
