A few points...

1) BT posting rules require a price be posted.

2) what is the empty weight of the aircraft and its registered gross weight? Useful load number "seems" a tad high, but that's just a "wet finger in the air" perception. The raw empty and gross numbers would certainly help in adding clarity.

3) which wingtips does it have, long or short? Photos of Glasairs almost always make it hard to tell which wingtips are installed - it's just one of those things that's hard to gauge when everything about the airplane is gloss white.

I’m sure Josh will be along shortly, but it looks like it’s got the extended wingtips based on the location of the fuel caps.

I’ve seen this plane in person and it’s a very nice example of a Glasair 1.

I, too, have a Glasair 1RG and consider it to be very nice—definitely above average. This plane is every bit as nice as mine!

I just updated with a price, thought I added that in the title.

Useful load is in the description, 965lbs, but will have to check weight and balance for empty weights.

Yes, this has both the extended and short wing tips. All pictures have the extended wing tips on it.

Thanks for posting the additional info. I'm assuming the useful load listed is with the long wingtips, taking advantage of the extra 100lbs bump in gross weight they allow.

Gotta love the Glasairs - very stout airplanes that are a hoot to fly!

Correct, this is with the long wing tips! Helps quite a bit.

If I lived in Denver I'd be meeting you with a checkbook in hand now. Nice plane - I hope you find a good partner.

Congratulations, Josh.

If you don't mind a post-sale inquiry... I'm interested in learning your thoughts around the slider windows as opposed to the gull-wing hatches. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on their usefulness, pros and cons, how much of a pain the sliders are when it comes to baggage space, whatever, please?

Thanks for your help. I wish you great success in finding your next airplane - I bet it won't go as fast as that G 1! :D

Hi Mark,

I spoke to Josh before he bought N16ME from the fellow I sold it to, I owned it 3 different times(long story):) and loved the plane. The sliders are superb for taxiing with them open as the airflow is awesome with no fear of the gull wing catching a gust etc. and being damaged. I never owned a gull wing canopy, but I loved the sliders. Happy to chat if you wish, shoot me a PM.

Matt

I've got a Glasair 1RG with both a slider and a gull-wing door. :-) The original build consisted of a slider on the left side and no door on the right side. When the builder realized how tough it was for a passenger to enter on the left side and climb to the right side, he added the gull-wing door on the right side.

Personally, I prefer the slider because I'm always afraid of the wind catching an open gullwing door. I'm really not comfortable taxiing with the gullwing door open in any condition. The slider takes up a bit of baggage room near the ceiling, but I don't really miss it 98% of the time. Every once in a while with bulky stuff, I'll find that a blanket or pillow cast off by me or a passenger is interfering with the slider. I suppose it'd also be possible for a rigid something to block the slider mechanism, but you'd have to be packed pretty tight for that to happen.

I, too, would be happy to talk with you via PM or email if you have any specific questions. Congrats to Josh on selling his plane. I'm hoping for his sake that he just sold half because I know I'd miss mine if I sold it! I'll watch for it up at Greeley in hopes that it stayed in the area. Mine is out of service for a G3x upgrade so I'll be in my red RV-3 exclusively for the foreseeable future!
