So we've got a guy with a plane that has some stability issues. He thinks he addressed it by covering up the gear wells. Then he uncovers them, goes up and retracts the gear for the very first time at (what I'm guessing is) a rather low altitude. Personally, I think in that situation I would have gotten some altitude in case retracting the gear created a... surprise.

I think he’s come to the conclusion that the instability was due to an excessively aft CG which was causing random stalling of the canard and possibly sections of the wings, which BTW is probably correct. He “fixed” that with the heavy crap he put in the nose. Yes it would be wise to get some altitude before experimenting with configuration changes, but let’s remember where we are.

If he keeps that speed all the way to the numbers he is going to need better brakes! He had 143 IAS on the downwind. He just dropped an updated video. He was 107 over the numbers and a little porpoising between 98 and landing at 85. https://youtu.be/E6W72Qk5tto

On my plane with just me and half tanks, I've had the canard stall speed close to 60kts. Two people with half tanks and it's about 66kts. I have no idea how he "fixed" his stability issue. I think there's a chance it may have been PIO.
