You mean a fireball at the end of the runway.

Just for the record I would like to publicly acknowledge something. Any of you who called this project a waste of time, unachievable, silly, unrealistic, fake, never gonna work, etc etc etc or anything like that back in the first say 35 pages of this thread.. For the record you guys were right! Y'all hit the nail on the head! Unfortunately, Peter has proven you all to be right.

Peter has gone overboard. I’m no engineer but 3 engineers posted on his “improvement” video from 2 days ago and they all feel that this is useless!!!!!!!

I wish he would just go back to basics. I really want this to succeed!!!!

I want a 300 hp turbine, or better yet, jet that burns 15 gph too. Or even better yet, a safe battery that weighs 200# and will put out 150 kw for 4 hours. But neither are going to happen in my lifetime.

Without a technology paradigm shift, a diesel is going to be marginally better than an avgas motor, and Peter's airfare is no better than a Velocity. Add the weight of cabin pressurization and it's going slower than a Velocity.

I must be addicted to reading this because whenever I see it, I say to myself, "Oh no, what's he done now?"

It's so utterly ridiculous, frustrating and depressing that he refuses to listen to any of the brilliant advice available to him (at no cost).

It's just an expensive series of previous bad judgements now progressing towards a serious accident. And a lesson on how not to plan, design, build and test anything.

I need to go and read a good book. Like my trusty old "Marks' Standard Engineering Handbook for Engineers".

It is interesting to go directly from a Raptor video to a Mike Patey video. Polar opposites in the “competent to design an airplane” category.

I love watching Mike’s videos. But to be fair to Peter I am sure if Mike videoed every step of his first airplane build it might not be as pretty. Haha. Mike has so much experience he has forgotten more than Peter has learned. But I agree they are polar opposites. Mike is a really humble open minded guy.

... and the Elliot Seguin/Wasabi flight test videos. The discussions with Hakan regarding his Lancair flight test tribulations. Imagine trying to have those discussions w/Peter ... ugh.

I’ve decided that Peter doesn’t really want to fix the issues with Raptor. It’s the only reasoning that explains his decisions. The Raptor is his baby. He likes tinkering with it. If all the problems were solved tomorrow, what would Peter do? With his skill set, he couldn’t just go back to the software world.
With my realization of the situation, I think we should make suggestions for the Raptor project which will enable Peter to safely tinker away without any danger of actually solving a problem. In that vein, I propose the following.
1) Strap a window air conditioner to the roof to pump cold air into the intake to “solve” the cooling issues. To prevent the waste heat from the a/c unit being ingested by the intake, an alternative would be to mount the a/c unit in the roof and dump the waste heat (and condensate) in the cabin. This mod will require a big, heavy inverter to power the a/c unit, so it might be considered a win/win.
2) The intake for the forward radiator should be one of those rural US Mail mail boxes that looks like a largemouth bass. Calculations could be done to determine if it will improve the air flow, but why do that when, with a couple of weeks of tinkering, you can get the same information the hard way.

I was wondering if maybe he would be done when the useful load got to zero.

With full fuel the useful load is already much less than zero.

He hasn't reduced the maximum fuel on board to 30 minutes yet. Just think how much more coolant he could carry.

I've heard you can do that without taking the current one down.
