If you are familiar with the Twin Cessna world, you know who Tony Saxton is. He owns TAS Aviation in Defiance, OH and has been the Technical Director of The Twin Cessna Flyer owners group since its founding in 1988. He's worked on Twin Cessnas exclusively since 1976 and is arguably the world's expert in 300 and 400 series Cessna twins.

We have started a petition to honor Tony by having his home airport named after him. I'm posting this information here because Tony is one of those General Aviation champions that we all depend on to keep our airplanes flying. People like this need our support and recognition. Here's what Mike Busch said about Tony recently, "His expertise in this niche is legendary, and his outreach efforts to educate twin Cessna owners has been exemplary. Tony has helped me personally more times than I can count."

Even if you don't own a Twin Cessna, I hope you'll consider signing our petition to honor this remarkable man. You can sign it here: http://chng.it/N2xVW6rhNm

Thanks for your help!

I'll admit that as a Twin Cessna newbie, I wondered if some of the TAS Aviation hype was more marketing that substance. That was quickly dispelled with two visits to Defiance. Tony's and his group are the real deal and worthy of the praise they receive.

Same with me. I went to one of his Cessna camps in Las Vegas and he is the real deal. He knows his stuff about twin Cessnas.

Signed. As a new 421 owner I'm sure he and I will cross paths at some point.

Most named airports are named after the namesake passes.

Why wait?

It would be nice to see this renamed while Tony's still around. +1

I thought it was going to be about the other twin Cessna legend, Kirby Grant - Sky King

Come to think of it, during these times, today he might make an appropriate representative for aviation and traditional values.

Tony, Juan, Jerry. Those are just a few names you’ll soon recognize when you enter into the World of Twin Cessnas.

These guys have devoted their lives to supporting GA snd the brand itself.

We are truly blessed to have them on the team. Why not recognize them in their life time?

Go on and name it the Tony Saxton Memorial Airport so when he passes the name won't have to be changed. :bugeye:

Or not. :woot:

He has kept these beasts alive!!! Additionally, he has passed along his craft and expertise to others who keep these aircraft airworthy and shared it with pilots. Just the knowledge of how to treat these aircraft can keep many of them out of the beer can factory.

Thanks for everyone's help. We've passed the 850 mark on our way to 1,000. :D
