One other thing they are going to have to do to sell many planes and that is to expand the distributor network. One outfit in Florida for north and south America isn't going to cut it. That's not enough for the U.S. One thing the Cirrus has going for it is incredible support from the factory and COPA. That has a lot of value. Pipistrel will have to make some additional commitment to training and support to sell very many airplanes here. Years ago I rode my bike from Ljubljana to Ajdovscina to visit the Pipistrel factory where I met Ivo Boscarol, who gave me a short tour of the production line. We had an interesting discussion (he wasn't sure what to think of this guy in bike shorts coming to visit) and one thing that was an issue then that he brought up was that the US and Slovenia didn't seem to have the right trade agreement for him to expand to the US. I don't know if that is still true. I've always been a fan of Pipistrel and wish them the best of success. Bruce

Pipistrel has hybrid and all-electric versions of the Panthera in development. They are extremely serious about working toward emissions-free aircraft. Their factory is completely energy self-sufficient thanks to solar, geothermal, and high-efficiency design.
That said, while I am a fan of Pipistrel, I have my money on Bye Aerospace, with deposits on the eFlyer 2 and eFlyer 4. They expect to be the first to have FAA-certified electric aircraft.

Al, I think it’s the weight that’s the biggest factor in the speed increase. It allows them to use a wing with 15% less area. It looks like the fuselage has a lower wetted area too.

As I recall from early press, this area is very low pressure in climb and the same or better than underneath in cruise. Thought that was a "cool" innovation. I tried to find a good belly shot, but was unable.

What’s the lower cowl scoop? Accessories? This is a NA plane correct.
