Buyer was not the owner, buyer is a BT member who has past mu2 experience. Not going to identify the member unless it’s their interest to be known. Keep in mind before this went to auction it was listed for 980k so if you consider that starting price the actual price was not too far out of line. :duck:

My friend and I put in a reasonable bid on this aircraft. Did not get it obviously.

Today I flew up to Drummond Island, MI (KDRM) and lo and behold, there she sat, N48NP. No idea who the new owner is, but quite a coincidence it's still bopping around the region.

What’s the cabin sound level like as a passenger, they really scream on the ramp?

The noise is not bad in the cabin, it's all external. Something about the way the compressor is exposed in the engine fairing.

N48NP is a short body like Jon’s. In the cockpit, short bodies are louder than long body MU2s because you are sitting closer to the props. I think the short bodies are slightly louder in the back, but that is heavily dependent on the year and whether it has any soundproofing.

My wife said the back of a short body MU2 was comparable to the sound level of our C340A. I owned a long body Marquise and felt the cockpit was quieter than the 340.

As Jon said, the external noise isn’t that noticeable in the cabin. Plus, the sound drops noticeably both inside and out when you advance the condition levers to “T/O Land” position right before takeoff.

I have a -10K, so it’s a 3-blade 2000rpm plane (louder and faster) than some others. It is louder than my prior Aerostars and much louder than our King Airs. But everyone wears noise cancelling headsets so it doesn’t matter.

I don’t allow Mu2’s in my hangar complex’s. My other tenants don’t want noise.

An airport probably isn’t the best place to go for peace and quiet...

So is it loud in the cabin?

In the cockpit with your headset off it’s loud. There is a big difference between the cockpit proper including the space between the prop arcs and the pax seating area.

In the back of a short body I didn’t bother with headsets on shorter flights.

The airframe is very stout and jam packed with insulation but some are better than others, door seal attention etc. all side windows are triple pane.

Never had a direct complaint on noise from pax. In fact most said it was the most comfortable plane they’d been in (non-pilot pax used to flying jets).

It's no louder than a baron inside. I absolutely love my airplane! I am a raving fan of the Mitsubishi.

The Air Conditioning in a short body is insane. Coming from an AZ perspective that is pretty important.

I need to redo my recurrrent...

Airplanes are like golf clubs it’s a tool in the bag and you can’t have just one. The V is a driver, the MU-2 is a five iron, Widgeon is a 9 iron and a helicopter is a pitching wedge. MU-2 is perfect for most flights

I can only afford one club so I’ve got to have a 7 iron.
