If you're thinking about upgrading your stock incandescent landing light or an older generation LED landing light consider the Whelen Aerospace Technologies (WAT) Parmetheus Pro LED landing light. It comes in a PAR-36 or PAR-46 with dual voltage so any particular light can support your 14V or 28V electrical system. It is nearly twice as bright as the WAT Parmetheus Plus brand and is one of the best bang-for-the buck lights out there. These lights were originally designed for turbine aircraft such as Kingairs, Citations, Challengers, Hawkers, etc. so the quality in design is much higher. That is exemplified with a heat sink on the front of the LED so it does not frost over in icing conditions (assuming it is exposed and not behind a lens). They carry an STC for all piston aircraft and come with a 5 year warranty.

The PAR-36 light has been one of my best selling lights. I often sell fellow BTers with nose bowl mounted lights and one on the nose gear a PAR-36 Parmetheus Pro landing light and a PAR-36 Parmetheus Plus taxi light (P36P2T for 28V and P36P1T for 14V).

I just installed a pair of the PAR-46 Parmetheus Pro landing lights in my M-35 and there is a noticeable difference between the PAR-46 Parmetheus Plus landing lights and the Pros. I love them.

I am working on a YouTube video that highlights the differences between the Parmetheus Plus and the Parmetheus Pro landing lights.

You can order them off my website at https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/wh ... hting.html

We made a neat video comparing a PAR-46 Parmetheus Plus to a PAR-46 Parmetheus Pro. One in each wing. Here are the results!

Hi James, thanks for the vid, one thing I do notice is that in the video it seem the Pro on the right has the initial beam strike farther out than the left side so it's hard to tell really the benefit of one over the other.
You may consider moving them so they strike the runway at the same initial point and put some object that requires illumination in the distance. Then show this from the POV of the pilot where it matters most. This is where the comparison should shine.
Just my 2 cents.. no refund.

Based on the vid, I'd buy the Plus. I don't think this demo does anything to sell the Pro honestly, and I have have had both bulbs in PAR36. Plus looks whiter and brighter in that vid.

That's what I thought, zero difference.

Filming at night is challenging but the Pro is a brighter light. Keep in mind it is a PAR46 size bulb too and the difference between the Plus and the Pro is not as wide as the PAR36.

I do have some footage where I parked the Bonanza in front of a tan hangar and activated each light. In that video you can see the difference better so I'll see about adding that to the video. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit in a shot of it at night with each of the bulbs on the ramp, perhaps against a hangar door like 200 ft away with both Plus, then swap out both for pro. Perhaps a shot of a Pro on short final and a Plus on short final?

When it comes to trying to compare lumens, numbers really can be deceiving. The optics are where the lumens meet the ramp so to speak and makes the lumens count. Like I said, I have the Pro and know how bright it is, but the posted vid sells me the Plus all day long for half the price. Talking from a buyers perspective, so please don't think I am being a negative nanny.

Absolutely. Part of the problem is your typical cameras will try to set exposure to compensate for more or less light, resulting in not much difference in perceived brightness in the final image and more of a difference in clarity and noise. It's very hard to convey the true difference through pictures or video.
