I thought the Murphy Moose had some tail issues? I still like it a lot!

There was one that had a rudder flutter incident, but the builder had lengthened the top of the rudder and added a rudder trim tab and actuator, all aft of the hinge line, and the rudder was never mass balanced. He documented it pretty well. It was repaired, balanced, and has been flying again for several hundred hours.

What are you saying - was it supposed to fly away from this, or did they have an accident? At what altitude does it change from a hard landing to a mishap? What expectations should be expected? Username Protected wrote: I was present when a Moose on amphibs was dropped-in hard on water from ~10 feet.
- Firewall wrinkled - Windscreen popped out - Both front and rear door pillars on both sides failed in compression, top and bottom - Fuselage failed/wrinkled/bent downward, both sides ... ~12 inches aft of the rear float attach fittings - Floats were waaay cattywampus - 500# of pilots in the two front seats + full fuel (120g ?) + OSH camping gear - I also recall damage to the floats, but I did not have a snorkel/mask for a good look
Thank gawd it hit flat-ish and did not somersault.
