The main problems I had were with the alternator conversions, which failed repeatedly on trips, and the hydraulic unloader valve and accumulator. But my airplane was a poorly restored example, which I did not detect until I had owned it for a while. Too many swap meet parts that just weren't going to last.
Best of luck with yours, it is a beauty! I’m about ready to install plane power alternators. Hopefully I don’t get that problem but I’ve read some stories about them. We figured how to overhaul the unloader valve, I assume yours made a popping noise?

I don't know about noises, but if it sticks, it can overheat the fluid in a hurry. Mostly I think that and the accumulator were both just worn out. I knew I had a problem coming, flew it over to a nearby airport for an expert to look at, and had to pump the gear down. 75 pumps. Mine had the Interav alternators.

I parked next to this beautiful 1947 Navion yesterday at GMU. You don't see them very often: Attachment: Lancair GMU Navion 002.JPG Attachment: Lancair GMU Navion 003.JPG

Wow! And they don't usually look like that! With that new cowling, prop, and paint it looks like a Lancair's daddy.

Funny you should say that because Lance Neibauer borrowed heavily from the Meyers 200 in his original design. The Meyers 200 looks a lot like the Navion. Lance improved both designs by using composites. I owe a lot to Lance Neibauer.
