With all the interest in the SF50, has the Stratos been discussed here at all? IMO this is a very intriguing jet. FL370 in 17 min, 1500 nm range and over 400 ktas in a single engine.

It has a close thrust/weight ratio as the Honda Jet.

Honda Jet is ~0.376

Stratos ~0.403

I'm curious if using a larger single engine burns less fuel than two smaller engines with similar/close total thrust.

Wake me up when it’s certified and available for purchase...

They are building the 716X right now.

Not certified, not available to purchase... I would be shocked if they get anywhere in the ballpark of certification, the SF50 almost bankrupted Cirrus and they had the large resource base and cash flow of a going concern selling lots of SRs.

Saw this at OSH, super nice and well made. The problem I see is how on earth are they going to find surplus JT15D-5s laying around to make this project work in any sort of volume.

I had the same question. They said the PW535E will be the engine for certification. Not sure why the Pratt over the FJ44-4

Thye want 2.5+M for the experimental version.
Why not just buy an SF50....

Or a slightly used <insert huge list of turbines less than $2.5M>

2M buys a about 2666 hrs of Jet-A at 150 gal/hr.

Where did you hear about the purchase price for the experimental? I've been trying to get details on that and haven't been able to.

They told me $2.5M to have it complete and flying.

It goes 400kts on 80 GPH, that’s epic performance for 2.5 million. There’s nothing else that comes close

80 gph? That's better than I had expected if that is accurate.

So I had someone tell me recently that once the new ADSB rules go into effect this next year, that RVSM requirements are going to go away. Has anyone else heard this?

Only the operational requirements have changed. The equipment requirements are still there.

I assumed the equipment requirements would be the same, but what would be an example of an operational requirement?

Before the latest rule changes you needed an approved RVSM operations manual and an LOA. With ADS-B you just need the training and equipment, as long as you are flying in the US.
