I've hunted around a bit here (and on some other boards) and haven't found anything regarding this topic but I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction otherwise

Anyway, the air vents seal pretty well (these are the stock air vents - not vent tubes) and are not noticeable during summer/spring but during the winter that little trickle of really cold air that sneaks by can make things a bit chilly

Do they make any type of cap that slips over the interior vent? I couldn't find any.

I can't imaging I'm the only one with this (but maybe I'm the only one that is somewhat bothered by it?)

I havent done it (mostly southern california flying) but I would remove the "soup cans" and plug the tubes from the inside if i planned on leaving it that way all winter.

Or just get some tape and do as Del recommends. Doesnt get any easier to install/remove than that. At least use white tape...

I know I can seal the wing-root vents. Was kinda hoping for a, how shall I say, more aesthetically pleasing solution. No offense

This is actually one of the C182 re-spins (1998) when they got rid of the vent tubes and went with something along these lines (not exactly that tho)

I would've had to walk all the way across the hangar for the speed tape; the green masking tape was handy

If you go to a Tractor Supply, or an Atwoods, and buy some horse stall mat, you can custom cut plugs to seal the leading edge intakes. Cut oversize just enough that it'll tuck in behind the skin. You will not be able to get them out, without poking an icepick through them. But that's not a big deal to make more once a year.

Fortunately I don't have the cold air leak problems, and I wouldn't want to cover those intakes because those are my poor man's AOA; they howl when I'm just at the right speed on final in my 182P.

But I like the product Scott came up with; even though it might cost a little more than Del's.

Is the vent tube the OAT probe location in 182s?

I would imagine anyone with a 3D printer and dimensions could print a cap for the eyeball style vents pretty easily.

My front vents have Soros vents on the inside and they don't leak, but the rear vents sure do leak cold air during winter. I use heavy clear insulation tape from the aviation selection at Home Depot.
