Hello all,

Recently purchased a 1963 A55 Baron with a colemill conversion. Looking forward to using some of the expertise on here. Using it for family trips along the east coast and some pilots and paws flights. I'm a current airline pilot and while I have many hours in a Beech 58 this is my first time in a 55. Thanks

Sam

Sam, looks like you got a great Baron. I used to own an A55 with the P600 conversion (TC-270). Fantastic plane and performance. The cabin vent system on yours looks borrowed from a 1970’s vintage B55. The cabin air exhaust vent on the left side of the fuselage just aft of the 3rd window and the air inlet in the vertical stabilizer fairing are pretty slick modifications. Never seen another Baron where someone went to the time and trouble to make that improvement.

We are based out of Pine Shadows Airpark 94FL in North Fort Myers. The second owner previous to me threw a lot of money at this airplane in upgrades. The owner who sold it to me wasn't flying it very much. Has been a Florida airplane (hangared) for many, many years.

We enjoy it. Lee county has quite the snowbird population. We pretty well double the people here in winter months. Summer is very laid back. No problem getting into your favorite restaurant on a Friday night at last minute. We are in an Airpark here and the only regret so far is why we didn't move sooner. Only downside is the hurricanes but southwest Florida has a geographic hiccup and avoids most of the big stuff. Normally we also get 10 days notice on any potential storms as well nowadays. Having an airplane can allow for last minute evacuations.

Good luck in finding your airplane. I was getting pretty turned off of buying before finding mine. A lot of junk out there.
