The long body has much better runway manners. The landing gear is more properly placed so you can actually rotate on takeoff and land without nosing over on landing.

My plane has the batteries relocated to the wheel wells, so it have a pretty far aft CG. This improves the runway handling and increases speed. It does make the plane harder to hand fly (pitch sensitive, particularly at higher speeds).

Speed loss is 10-15 knots, much bigger cabin. For some, that is the right tradeoff. Very much an airliner feel, even has an entrance "foyer".

Yep. I start sweating every time I go into ORL. You know something is going to happen If the engine doesn't stop on the way in, it is going to stop on the way out :eek:

Good to know. I have also found that a bunch of weight in the baggage helps with the nose coming down. I’ve found the plane pretty easy to grease on but equally challenging to avoid the thud of the nose falling. Lancair iv-p flies almost identically to small engine MU-2; it’s actually creepy how identical the ref and cruise speeds are. I really like having two turbines out there. Same gear speeds, flap speeds same vref same cruise same pressure differential, same ROC!

Cabin size and config on mu2 is really good for family.

My wife gets the couch, bolt kids into rear facing car seats and a massive stand up cabin for the kids as well.

If only the kids appreciated how much better it is than southwest. They always ask when they are going to get to go to the ‘big airport’ and fly on the ‘big planes’.

I heard the same thing from my kids when they were little! But both have gone through having to sleep on the floor at the Denver airport and they got cured pretty quickly.

why are you back in a TP? I tough the old Citations were cheaper to run than a Baron?

Grass field 440nm to 2800ft mountain strip to grass field without getting gas is current mission and a 501 cannot do that. Decision had zero to do with money. I don’t think your TBM could do that mission either Marc.
