I am curious. Does repack and rocket motor have 10 year limits like the cirrus? If so what are estimated costs for this work?

Donny: I spoke to BRS about this a while ago, so I don’t recall the exact cost. It was roughly the same as the Cirrus. The timeframe to repack is the same. KJ

My hangar mate has a Peterson with a 'chute. Nice, clean install. It eats a bit of baggage space but as it's always just him with his wife aboard, they have plenty of room.
He did some of the legal work with BRS and liked what he saw.
His reasoning was sound: The soul comfort it gave him and his wife on the flights they planned with the plane was worth the price. He's aware that when CHTF none of us are at our best, and wanted another option.
I don't have one and wouldn't install one in my 182, but I cannot and will not throw stones at him for making the decision.

Do it, you'll notice that the loss of altitude in fpm is less than most 172's endure from poor landings by students and instructors. I'm an advocate for the concept of the chute, but it's not the be all end all for every type. in 172/182 one can mush the thing in and probably fly it again. I also understand the motivation with your partner mandating a chute. Good luck with it. Hopefully you never have to use it!
