I’m about to enter the pre-by inspection phase of an aircraft acquisition, a 1981 piper Saratoga. The interior is a bit dated but in pretty good shape. There are a few things I am budgeting for, one of which is an interior refurbishment. Has anybody ever used this entity before? . I’ll provide the link below. They have do you have a Facebook page and appear to be a very hot quality interior shop. Their business model is they send you shipping materials, you have your interior removed & ship to them, then you do the reinstallation.

Thanks!

That looks interesting. Curious to hear the price point and reviews.
That stuff can get spendy but good interiors are a nice place to spend time.

Being they are located in England, I would have serious heartburn with sending an entire interior to them. The work looks great, but that’s a helluva problem if something goes wrong.

Where are you located? Perhaps we can point you to a high quality shop near you and you can show the page. Also, don’t discount a hot rod enterior shop. You don’t need a aviation shop to do it at all. In fact, I suspect a well respected car enterior shop may yield a better quality product in some cases.

I redid the interior of a Cherokee six I had. Pulled the seats and had an automotive shop reupholster the seats while I bought a carpet kit and then refinished the plastic and panels myself with SEM paint. It’s really an easy DIY project if you have someone do the seats for you.

I’m not sure what part of the country you are in, but there are a few places near where I am located that do great work inexpensively.

Chuck:

Whatever you do, make sure that you do the interior last if you have other things that you want to upgrade/change/repair.

Work on the aircraft is hard on interiors... I would do everything else first, and then, once happy with the airplane, finish with the interior.

The a/c is currently based in Billings Montana. It’s an ‘81 retrac Saratoga, nonturbo. BTW, i’ve been reading the adventures of your Saratoga. Respect fully sir, You are an inspiration. And I think I speak for many here following on this forum.

Oh, BTW, some here asked where I will be based. I live in Sharpsburg Georgia. I am going to try to base the aircraft in either of the Lagrange or Newnan. There’s no hangar space at Falcon field in PTC (plus their hanger fee(s) are pretty steep). I am looking forward to joining the community. Thanks for the advice.

While this may be inexpensive, it is questionable whether it is legal for certified aircraft as you will not have the fire testing documentation and other certification requirements for the materials. On a small single engine this may never come up. Don’t try this on a larger business aircraft. Why worry? Ask your insurance company...

With regard to burn certs, just send the reqiured samples to Skandia for testing. Its cheap and most current automotive materials will pass. I did this a few years ago in my PA32.

I didn't read anywhere in his post that he said, or even implied that the materials he used met or didn't meet the more newer FAR certification requirements.

I've used "generic" upholstery shops many times for my and customer airplane and met the newer requirements...
