Okay, playing with my Virb camera, and so I finally put together a simple video of a recent approach into KFRG. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N30 ... /KCEF/KFRGNotable for heavy rain and near minimums. Watching a video of it doesn't always match the impression I had while doing it, so I am learning some things about how I fly from this experiment. Passengers are my niece, my wife, and my mother in law. The niece is in the right seat, wife and mother in law are in the back cabin. I need to find a better place to put the camera so you get some cockpit context. Not that easy to do. I'm not yet good with the editing software. Haven't quite figured out all the doodads and data one can overlay, either. Annoyingly, the altitude data on the Virb was way off, shot up to ~8,000 ft shortly after takeoff, then reversed that very shortly before landing, so useless. Speed is ground speed, attitude is from the built in AHRS of the camera, but it was tilted down which explains the below the horizon neutral. Mike C.

Nicely done. Like that humming sound. It sounds like the prop sync is not syncing perfectly or maybe just the way the virb is picking up the sound. At first I thought you were hand flying. Sounds like a helpful and flight savvy niece that was with you.

Is this the 360 camera? If so, I found the software to be very kludgy. I ended up using Adobe Premier - which isn't without it's learning curve, but it edits a lot better.
Chip-
PS: holy approach speeds!

Nice job on the video.
Next time try some rain x it helps a little with visibility.

I thought the GoPro didn't have the same sensors as the Virb (say AHRS). I would have thought Garmin would be the better option for aviation. Maybe that's not true. Supposedly, can control camera from Garmin Pilot EFB software, but have not tried that as of yet. Doubt GoPro can do that. Quote: Your niece is a professional pilot? No. She's a sophomore at CMU studying chemistry. Not on the video, but it was discussed to not distract me during the approach. Mike C.
