Does anyone have any experience in Challenger 300? I know someone who knows someone who wants to upgrade to a 300, they are upgrading from a Citation Ultra which I got to ride in it last weekend. Pretty nice ride. What to look for and typical numbers on a 300? Thanks in advance!

We have three based here with us(not our airplanes). They are BIG. Tons of bang for the buck, IMO.
~3000 mile range, seats full(IFR reserves) ~450 ktas ~Large cabin
What's not to like......

What's not to like...... We operate 2 of them. Good airplane. Electric. Doesn't like to be shutoff. Well supported by Bombardier. You're in a big boy class of airplane with the 300. You either need to be near a quality service/maintenance provider, or you will need to hire an experienced tech. You can live without it, but your life will be much less complicated if you have your own. Like said above, "lots of bang for the buck" Doc's in the $ 2.5-3k per hour range depending what you consider Doc's. They were not designed for Oceanic work. it's size and range will tempt you. They will do it, but lots of limitations with wet feet. The environmental system is a single system, and the O2 bottle is limiting over long stretch's of H2O. It's a non-issue over the continental US. There are better choices if Oceanic ops will be routine.

Corrosion to engine inlet inner barrels. Recurring and expensive problem.
Quiet Technology Aerospace has a terminating solution with a carbon fiber replacement STC. Lifetime warranty.

We operate Two late model 300’s. Passengers love them. Better have your own technicians. We joke that it’s two AS907’s separated by a electrical fault. Dave

Competes well with the Falcon 2000's. We looked seriously at the 350 but it was owners final decision and went 2000S.

The 2000LXS does but not S when it come to range. The 300/350 is a nice plane with better support than a Falcon however. Anyhow not complaining, I fly an S model now and the performance is stellar.

We operate one of the last 300's delivered before they became 350's. Great plane! Ours has been unusually trouble free for the first 800 hours. Hope it continues. At my last flight department we bought a new 300 and when it showed up in the hangar we measured the interior cross section and it was one inch wider than our G550's!! The 550 was about a half an inch taller so you basically get large cabin comfort G1-G5 interior with out the cabin length. Our CEO made us prove these numbers to him and even he was surprised. They still easily outsell G280's and it so frustrates our Gulfstream salesman. Gulfstream has better support but folks are slow to warm up to the "Gulfstein" airframes. The G150 is gone. Serial number 180 was a bigger block change with some good enhancements if your looking for a used one.

Demo an Embraer Legacy 450 or 500. The Challenger 300/350, Gulfstream 280 and the Falcon 2000’s are antiquated by comparison. Your customers/clients will thank you for it.

Just don’t ask for any sort of support with Legacy products. There is no way you can compare. Especially to a brand like Gulfstream and I am a Falcon guy... Sorry but I totally disagree with you.

Yep, I’ve heard the stories about the lack of support. I’m a huge Falcon fan also. I’ve managed a 900EZ for the past 8 years. One of the nicest flying airplanes I have ever flown. We just took delivery of the first of three Legacy 500’s. Support from Embraer has been incredible. Falcon support is good but not nearly on par. Look at the rankings for the past few years and you will see that Embraer is at the top. Brand loyalty wasn’t an issue when we looked for a replacement fleet. The best product with the best support won the business. Dassault delivered 36 aircraft last year. That’s not a stellar record. Embraer didn’t get to be the third largest airframe manufacturer by not being able to support their products....just saying.
