Does 8 passengers mean 8 souls on board or pilot plus 8. How big will the smallest two be?

As noted above no pressurized piston twin does the mission described (nowhere close)

For realistic options you need to ease a few specs by 50% (or get a Navajo)

If there is a plane than could do all that for that price, I’ll buy one too.

There is a plane that can do it - Turbo Commander. Less than 2000ft takeoff, 1500nm range, can seat up to 8, can be had for sub $550K.

Case closed.

It can take off from a 2,000' strip with 8 people and full fuel? If so, that's impressive.

I missed the 8 people... if that doesn't include the pilot I can't think of anything that would work.

I know I'm a bit rusty on Commanders... but how do you get the 8 people for that budget?

Its all wing! 900' wingspan on those things.
It would be tight inside with all 8 aboard. Usually people are at around 30% of their expected seating capacity anyway so wouldn't be a big deal.

The commanders have club plus 3 place bsck bench, cockpit, belted potty

Not workable, as noted, for pilot plus 8.

Not comfortable for much over an hour at best

How about a kA300?

Requiring “All weather” knocks out any pistons IMO

Jason the Pilatus was my first recommendation during our initial conversation. However, he prefers a second engine. I tried to explain to him the legendary reliability of the PT-6 to no avail!

This logic is so insane..... 8 people on a 40 year old, sub $500K piston twin = safe because it has 2 motors?

You put 8 folks on a plane like that and you're asking for trouble.

HEY JASON,

I Resemble THAT remark,

I like my 35 yr old sub 500k piston twin with two motors

I also totally agree with you

Every plane is a compromise, so pick the plane that meets 75% of your objectives.

My 1980 421C with a 2350 pound useful load can meet most of them. I just finished running a set of factory new engines out to 1700 hours without a single cancelled trip or AOG situation. The engines are still running perfect and will be replaced in April.

A 2500 foot runway is not a problem under gross and without any significant approach or departure obstacles.

If you buy and older “turbine or piston”Pressurized twin the reliability “will not” be there if there is ANY deferred MX. Most planes in this category usually have a lot of deferred MX.

I did not infer from his posting that the needed to go 1200nm with 8 people.

But even if that was the case, a Turbo Commander can takeoff at MTOW from 2000ft and useful load on a Jetprop 840 is typically around 3600lbs. With 8x 170lbs people you have 2200lbs for fuel, which would equate around 1300nm with no reserves. So in the ballpark.

Here are the various specs for the Jetprop series:
