Charles my experience from Indiana to central Colorado in the winter is an average headwind component of 45-50kts at FL27-280. That is just my average of the on the nose component. Seen it over 100kts and 15.

Course there will be bad days. Will take quite a plane to make 900nm with 8 adults 99.9% of the time. But 50% vs. 90% might well be the spread between two turboprops.

Tomorrow I am flying exactly 900 miles In the mu2. With full fuel I may be able to make it but just barely (at least barely to my vfr reserve comfort level). 85 knots on the nose and going low is no better. You need some real range when you start pushing those winds.

Interesting its finally for sale. Saw that plane there maybe 5 years ago and thought it might be good for parts or something.

Smack dap in the middle of Sinaloa. I cant even imagine the rocks on the person that's willing to buy that thing and then try to get it out of there....
A few hundred miles through Mexico transporting a plane on a flat bed....nothing to draw attention here. What could go wrong?

Yes, and I assure you that I am a buyer for that plane as is. How to get it here without getting scammed or killed is a whole other problem.

Wow, I assumed that thing would just get towed out of the hangar over to the jungle at some point and that would be that. t

TJ when you saw it I think it had been there for a decade or two already.

Those were fun trips :)

I'd fly it.... get the flaps down to at least 5, leave it stiff legged, replace the fuel and batteries and give her a go. Submit the NASA form while taxing in to customs at Tucson and just pretend like you mistakenly flew the wrong Mu2 home. Sowwy!
