Have you found the reason for the comm issues? Contact cleaner on the PPT. Really more of a slide to talk.

Mark, Maybe this might help...For 91.185 the short acronym we (USAF) had to memorize way back in the day was "AVE F" & "MEA" "Avenue F" or "AVE F" was for flying the route (in order): A = Assigned V = Vectored E = Expected F = Filed "MEA" was for the altitude (the higher of): M = MEA E = Expected A = Assigned Cheers! Always an issue to work with co-pilots side when in the left seat and avionics are all different. Those slide switches seem to always have issues. Hopefully, a hand mike was also somewhere close. Even when you get the co-pilot side working, it's difficult to reach over for short guys like me Glad you worked it out. SP, I always worried about something happening to someone in back and not being able to do anything about it, but I mostly flew family and friends.

Not mush mind per se but your mind doesn't recall things as easily when $hit be going down. I'd love to claim that this was intuitive for me, but in fact it's such an unusual situation that I'd have been scrambling too. It's nice to have a refresher now and again. Quote: Another comment...the copilot headset wasn't plugged in. Problem is there are spring loaded metal covers over the sockets. You also can't see how big each plug is. So imagine reaching across the copilot seat to the right side armrest. Lifting the cover and plugging the jack in. Can't be done one handed. Can't be done by feel. Short answer is if headset isn't plugged in a simple fix becomes a cluster. I remember those; the plugs are vertical in the arm rest, so they have covers to keep crap out of them (I have no idea what Cessna was thinking). Definitely a two handed operation under any circumstances. It's times like those that I don't envy single pilot operators. Well done.

Just because you can't hear them doesn't mean that they can't hear you. That can work in your favor if you consider it, or be very embarrassing if not and you start "thinking out loud". Funny. First thing that went through my mind when I watch the video. What if...

You're story should be a test question on a FAA exam. Nice job!
Another thing to consider, if the FOs mic did not solve the problem try your cell phone.
I had a radio failure and ended using my cell phone, it worked great.

I had a radio failure and ended using my cell phone, it worked great. Yes. But think about how you would find the number. Really should have center numbers on a PDF on iPad. Otherwise it would be a goat rodeo

I have several number stored on my iPhone.
When it happened to me. My initial calls dropped, then they called me and asked my intentions.
Not sure if they got my number from my dropped calls or my flt plan.
Certainly not the first or even second thing to mess with but if you are in the clear and stabilized it's worth a shot.
