That thing show me straight and level the whole time, I was not concerned in the least. I had missed that looking at the small vid on I-phone. Obviously an essential back up item!

Username Protected wrote: Mark, another great video and thanks for sharing. A must see for all pilots. Do you think creating a short intro YouTube for your passengers like this would help or are they just going to let their freak fly anyway? Dunno. Might scare them even more. I think Dave and Allen are spot on. Make better choices on right seaters and brief departure scenarios/ sounds etc

It surprised me but I am not sure if it actually just sounds like that is what I said. The right seat intercom is such that I doubt she heard it regardless. I hand flew it because it is a pretty tight turn. With three altitudes 800, 2,000 and 3,000. The AP would have meant selecting heading and 2,000 then through 800 changing heading bug and then arming 2,000 then mode selecting nav. I just thought hand flying was simpler than all the button pushing. Plus Mike C has been saying you are not a real pilot if you don't hand fly ... Never had a nervous nelly like this before...lesson learned. That's why I share. I think she heard what you said because her meltdown happened right after. Your comment lost her confidence. You need to become as proficient in AP usage and button pushing as you are in hand flying. Brief the departure and plan out your button pushing sequence. If the AP flies through the radial in the turn and then intercepts it is no big deal. It is times like those when you should be using all tools you have.

It's possible. Or perhaps she saw body langauage or felt energy at that point. I just can't reconcile what would have made me say that. It was all pretty routine. But unless something like this happens you never know. I will have to ask her what she remembers. Maybe it was a deep seated desire on my behalf to create a sort of Stockholm situation!

Ask her to watch the video then ask her what she was thinking along the way.
You had two very different realities in the cockpit.

My guess it was when ATC asked what you were squawking and you realized you transposed digits and was annoyed with yourself.

Alright I have to ask.
Who is the lady?
What is the sound?
