Congrats to anyone lucky enough to get to own and fly this truly unique airplane. World's fastest civilian piston twin, what more needs to be said. Thank you, Ted Smith for designing it, and Jim Christy for keeping it alive!

Great paint scheme. Much better than most others I have seen. Also like John Grady's.

HF no selcal. Yikes, you have to listen to all that scratch nonsense. You need to install CPDLC, but the antennae might be bigger than the airplane. Haha.

Sound like fun flying. Id like to take mine to Europe and fly the VHF route Iqualuit, Greenland and Iceland. Would be fun!

Mark,

Thanks for the  on my paint scheme. I love my Aerostar, but I have never been a "brand loyal" type guy. Between a Baron and Aerostar, each has its advantages, disadvantages, and peculiarities and the individual just has to figure out which seat fits his butt better. A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were coming home from Florida. The pic speaks for itself and is representative of the day to day performance my airplane delivers. This is a power setting of about 60% and ROP.

Thought you might like this picture, taken some years ago with Mt. McKinley in the background. I always thought it was cool the way the nose is reflected in the spinner. Good way to check the nose gear as well!

Great picture. A wise man once said to me that you know you've made it in aviation when you get to sit in front of the propellers....

It is nice to sit in front of the propellers except when they look like this.

Eric,

I guess you could say that's a pretty sight that is not so pretty. The good thing is that the A* flies along almost like you are simply on low cruise power. I have shut down my engines completely during training and, though I don't recall the exact number, the single engine "cruise" speeds was impressive.

That is still a better view then the only prop in front of you stopping.

Any A* owners in Houston? I'm dying to get inside one.

As long as you don't see the same thing on the other side, what's the problem?
