Because, it is a P46 and Marc does not like them.

Greg,

How do you like the Avidyne? I understand the combo with the GTN650s is a nice setup.

So far I really like it. No SVT but those GTN's add a lot to the setup. I like the chart view (CMAX) on the MFD and, to me, the MFD looks huge. I had a GTN650 in my Bo so I was used to them and really, really like them. V5 of the software is better with user defined holds. Not like I use that much though. :)

I think with a Flight Stream 210 you could get Syn Vis on either Garmin Pilot or Foreflight, and put an iPad mini on the yoke. And now the same Jepp charts on the EX5000 MFD are available and geo-referenced on Garmin Pilot.

Adam said 4 ppl plus bags and full fuel. He didnt talk about distance.
Hom much payload you have with full fuel in the M600 ?

Also wondering about 4 ppl plus bags. Yesterday in the Baron we had 4 people, two suitcases, 3 boogie boards, 3 beach chairs, and numerous small bags and backpacks. Full fuel and 250 lbs under max gross. How does that work in the Meridian or m350.?

Distance for this trip was 400 NM, call it 450 with IFR routing. I agree TBM is an ideal personal aircraft. Greg's talking about 890k though in a plane less than 10 years old. What does that get you in a TBM?

I actually have Flightstream 210 in the plane. I also have Foreflight. I'll have to check it out.

I could take 4 adults with baggage on a trip like this easily in the Meridian. My plane cost $50k more than $890k but still, for a plane that you maintain like a Bonanza (no phase inspections), burns 40 GPH, and flies at the same altitude and slightly slower than a TBM, it is a wonderful entry level SETP. No, it won't haul what a TBM will but I could almost buy 2 Meridians for the price and operating costs of a same year TBM. Flame away.

How would the loading work? Would you put the luggage, boogie boards and bags on the rear most two seats and then passenger 3 and 4 sit facing backwards and passenger 2 up front? Could you do it with four 200 lb guys?

There is a niced sized baggage area behind the last row of seats. You can put 100 pounds there. I would put one passage aft behind the co-pilot and one forward facing in the rear on the pilot side by the entry door. This would give them lots of leg room. Boogie boards would fit on the floor between the between the aft facing seats and the back bench seats. I would need 115 gallons or so of fuel for the trip and reserves for a 450 mile trip. Four fat guys like that would put me right at max gross, before bags. :D You'd each have to lose about 25 pounds.

I've got the 5th and 6th seats out. Cavernous baggage area, I didn't even need to use the nose locker.

Probably a 2000-2002 TBM 700B model for around $1m.

Nothing wrong with a Meridian if you know its limitation.
On a 1000 nm trip, a TBM 850 will take less fuel than a Meridian to do the trip and you will get there 2 hours faster.

I call BS Marc. You burn 65 gallons an hour at max cruise. I burn 40. At 262 kts and 40 GPH that is 6.5 MPG. Your 320 kts (maybe) and 65 gallons per hour. That is 4.9 MPG. You think you'll get there in less fuel and 2 hour saving? Do the math. The fuel stop won't eat the time and fuel you are implying here. I also said price compare TBM with a same year Meridian, in this case a 2006. You might be lucky to get a 2006 TBM850 for $1.6M, almost $700k more than my Meridian, and that is acquisition cost only. No one disputes the TBM has longer legs. But you pay dearly for that in acquisition cost, operating cost, and maintenance costs. Try your math on an 800 mile trip and see what you come up with. I sure didn't want to pay $700k more for 1000NM trips that I never take and, even if I did, I wouldn't mind a stop every 3 hours so the Meridian is perfect for me. Your butt would be in your seat for almost 4 hours to do 1000+NM.

Two hours is a pretty big margin in 1000 nm...
Speed difference is mere minutes...fuel stop is less than an hour.
