Very tempted.
Problem is, very few Barons like that that are priced within reason. The top shelf examples are $$$. Plus very few B55s have AC, and it's a no-go item for us.

Rich I'm in the exact same boat (and right up the road from you). If something like that came along, I'd jump on it immediately. Just looking for a 55 with a 430, AP, Boots and Radar with some time left on the engines.

Speaking of which...  Whose a good guy to search and vet a T310R or Q? Someone that would know of off market aircraft and would be able to inspect/shake a plane down in my interest? Who would be the same individual for a 55 Baron?

TAS actually has a great pre-buy program, as experienced just a year ago. Here's how it worked for us:
1)When we found a likely candidate, a TAS rep (Phil) went with us for the initial look-see. He came equipped with intimate knowledge of the make & model and with an Ipad. After the initial casual walk-around to discover anything glaring or obvious, he began to Skype/or facetime with the chief mechanic (Steve) back at TAS. They went over every inch of that plane with the ipad camera pointed at the detail being discussed & evaluated. Steve directed Phil where to point the camera, "zoom in/zoom out/wait there a minute/ back up & want to see that again" etc 'till they together had examined everything possible without removing (many) panels. Probably took a couple of hrs or more.
2) They gave us an initial evaluation. "She looks purty good as far as we can tell at this point. Do wish to pursue further"?
3) Negotiate with the sellers agent (who was present) & agree on the sale price, & who will pay for what after the actual pre-purchase inspection (which will be done at TAS at Defiance OH)
3) We reached agreement with the seller. Price is established, who pays for discrepancies at the pre-buy, what constitutes a legitimate deal-breaker for either party, etc. This is the most important step in the purchase of an aircraft, to avoid misunderstandings & hard feelings if something doesn't work out as expected. At this point the airplane hasn't been removed from the owner's direct supervision, and our serious intent to hopefully purchase is obvious. The owner is comfortable with us taking his plane away.
4) Phil then flew the plane, that same day, back to TAS, to begin the detailed pre-purchase inspection.
5) After the detailed pre-purchase, the afore-mentioned agreement was implemented & the deal was completed.
TAS charges a nominal fee for this service, & it was a great experience all around.

I ended up buying the old '56 C310. 3500 total time, 1800SMOH 700STOH left, 1000 SMOH right, 50 SMOH on non-ad props, STEC 50 autopilot, Bose headset jacks. I might end up selling it since I already have a '61.
