Watch as "Speedbird" has to go around because the first pilot failed to expedite his turn off.

On his landing he comes in really nose high, and it appears he scrapes the tail of the plane.

Captain Wolpole talks about when he did a barrel roll in a Concord. Also, beautiful footage of the plane in flight.

To my eye, Concorde is one of the most beautiful planes ever.

In airlines, it's the Connie, and then it jumps to the Concorde. I don't see other airliners as "beautiful."

Although I didn't get to ride in the Concorde, we lived near Dulles from 1979 to 1982 and got to see this beautiful plane in the air a number of times. Stunning. And, yes, it was LOUD. I loved it!

The Concorde is the jet equivalent of the piston Duke. : )

I was in Barbados for work in early 2000. I was eating lunch at a restaurant at Sandy Lane, and watched the Concorde haul out of Barbados for the seasonal service to LHR.

I'll never forget the noise and beauty of that plane climbing and accelerating.

In 99 and 2000 I was working in the UK, and lived a few miles East of Reading. We were under the take off path of all the west-bound jets from Heathrow, but the only one we could regularly hear and would rush out to see was a Concorde. Beautiful, small and very, very, loud.

The Concorde had a tail "bumper" with either a skid or 2 small tail wheels depending on the version.

I thought all Concorde models had tail wheels?

Touchdown speed for Concorde was relatively high, so the tires would always smoke on touchdown more than you'd see with other transport planes. In this clip, it looks to me like the tail wheel also smoked quite a bit.

I wonder if the pilots needed a tail wheel endorsement?
