I flew Awesome Bill back to Dawsonville ! It was also nice landing at his private air strip that I have admired from above for 15 years. Car talk ? No, we talked airplanes. Bill has been flying for almost 40 years. Just seemed like a normal airplane guy. Thankfully I missed my only chance ever to be on ESPN ..... And completed a safe trip :woot:

Awesome Bill. He's from Dawsonville.

I was at the GoPro Motorplex a couple of months ago racing his son Chase in the rental carts. Fun times for sure.

Left hand traffic every day of the year except on April 1st when it is right hand traffic in honor of Alan Kulwicki.

NASCAR has a long and sordid history with GA. More NASCAR guys have died in GA accidents than any other sport would be my guess.

Heard a similar story about Bobby Allison.

Very cool that you got to meet him...a cool, humble guy.
Class act.

Really....I would like to see that comparison. ( well not really, but I wonder why you think that...)

And, there is a reason that awesome Bill was voted most popular, until he said, enough, let someone else take the title.

Interesting commentary by Elliot;

In January 2008, he bought his current Conquest II in Ohio, after owning several Cessna jets. “I asked myself, ‘Why did I ever leave this thing?’ I can’t recall many trips where I’ve had to stop for gas. And the Conquest can go into any short field. It’s a great plane with all the benefits of my Cessna jets but none of the problems.
