I said to Craig while turning base to final at 105 kts that if an engine quits we just bump the throttles up and keep going and land. No big deal. I showed Craig the rudder bias system during the ground checks. When Craig was flying along at 16,500 at 260 kts I pulled one engine to idle ..... and nothing else happens. Just a slow airspeed decline.

Yep, exactly. An engine out in a jet (if operated as it should be) is an inconvenience, not an emergency.

Craig
Have you ran a flight plan comparing MU2 vs CJ on a 3 hour flight? Interested to see time and fuel burn.

They both burn Jet-A. If it wasn't cheaper before, why would it be cheaper now?

CJ2+ will do 3.35 NM/Gal for a 1200 nm trip at ISA no wind.

I'm guessing the delta between fixed costs and operating costs. At the extreme of zero fuel costs, the fixed costs of the jet probably aren't 50% higher, so going 50% faster, you save money. Doubt the citation is cheaper, but it could certainly push the costs into "I don't really notice the difference" and/or "the extra $50/hr is worth it!" territory

Thanks Jim-- I don't follow the logic either.. The Cj can't be that much faster than an MU2... I still like to see the 2 flight plans side by side to compare time and fuel burn..
What's a CJ cost these days? What's a MU cost ?
Is the time and fuel difference worth it??
Long Range Cruise Citation CJ2, CE-525A KTAS 352 Fuel Flow 596 Altitude FL 450 Specific Range 0.591 High Speed Cruise Citation CJ2, CE-525A KTAS 407 Fuel Flow 1,070 Altitude FL 350 Specific Range 0.380
MU2 290 Kts
Not that much faster !!!!!

First of all we are discussing a CJ2+ not a CJ2. My CJ2+ does 405kt @ FL450 on 700 pph. I posted the Cessna data for range, time, and fuel burn. You got the data to flog this. Here is more data: Attachment: 2016-01-07_1819.png .
