incredible...just as Pierre Sprey designed it...interesting about Sprey's design--in the design phase he consulted with WWII pilots including Germans and Russians that flew close air support to get their feedback on what an aircraft needs to survive in that environment...

Why the politicians want to phase out and ground this machine is beyond me....
For CAS and down & dirty killing (men and machine) its best aircraft ever produced....IMO.
I'll bet there are plenty of ground-pounders who would agree.

I'm a former marine. I couldn't agree more. Seeing those or Cobras overhead is extremely motivating and downright comforting and my enlistment in the 90's was a cakewalk compared to what these guys have been stuck doing for the last 15 years.
Just one more reason to hate scumbag politicians.

Just one more reason to hate scumbag politicians. It's the Air Force that wants to get rid of this machine and have for the last 30+ years.

I'll bet there are plenty of ground-pounders who would agree. Mark, as John said above it's the Air Force that wants to get rid of that airplane. It's not sexy enough for them. The only reason we still have it is the politicians have refused to allow the air force to get rid of it

...as well documented in the press and leading military and defense journals, and as also discussed on the POGO thread in our own virtual hangar, this pretty much says it all...despite what our AF personnel on this site and AF apologists otherwise might maintain...remains to date one of our most unfortunate episodes of recent military history as it pertains to Force Development and weapons procurement and sustainment...thank God for Congressional leadership...as far as the AF "leadership"--speaking of "treason"...
