You trying to say the Aerostar drivers are a little off center  never happen to a Beechcraft driver!!

Michael, If you haven't noticed, "we" do seem to have that extra  to our step; are perhaps a bit more "dashing" in our appearance  exude the aura of "pilot cool" to a noticeable degree  : celebrate our "specialness" at every opportunity  , embrace our fellows faithfully  and more than anything else seem a little bit  Jgreen

Good norning BT, I have a neew question for the Aerostar crowd. What can you tell me about something called the Merlyn Samuria 350 conversion. It sounds like the Machen conversion. I noticed that they have the AA1A5 engines. Any info is appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

Having (factory) parts and technical support is a significant advantage over an orphaned aircraft. A Merlyn converted aircraft is going to have much more limited support options than a Machen (AAC) modified aircraft. Bottom line: Run  Of course if you buy the Merlyn STC, and it is a better mouse trap, and start providing support for Merlyn converted aircraft you might be able to make yourself a small fortune. If you are looking for a bargain, buy a Duke ("Dukes are cool").

Important to note - unless I am mistaken the Merlyn 350hp STC doesn't qualify for the GW increase, which is not only helpful for normal loading as expected, but you do have to carry additional fuel to feel the extra hp, so the 700 hp airplane IMHO is hamstrung without the extra useful load. The Machen conversions all have the GW increase as part of the STC.

A distinct resemblance in the back end of the Aerostar to the Merlin. I understand Ted Smith and Ed Swearingen worked together at times.
