Adam has a nice Aerostar 601P for sale in the For Sale section, the back and forth from folks interested in the type is a a bit of a distraction from the purpose of his post.
(Finding the right person to give his plane a new home.)

I'll start with some pictures of my panel in cruise for the You Tube inquiry.

Jason,

I wish I had your yokes. Mine look like they came out of a '58 Tri-pacer.

Wish, wish, wish, can't any of us be happy anymore? :D

Jim Christy posted some Aerostar performance charts with and without intercooler in a different thread. It appears the intercoolers really help the 601P. I.E. with intercoolers at 15,000 Standard Day 26"MP 2300 RPM, will give you 75% power, 221 KTAS burning 18.5 GPH.

Without intercoolers 15,000 Standard Day 26" MP, 2300 RPM will give you 65% power, 215 KTAS burning 17.4 GPH. Looks like at higher elevations and higher power settings the is where the intercoolers shine.

The door opening into the propeller has always bothered me. Does it cause any concern in real life?

Not a problem, if it's hot, it is nice to open the door while taxiing in.

If it opens in flight DO NOT reach out to close it.

I know of other Aerostar pilots who taxi with it open. I have tried it a few times...personally, I don't like it and keep it closed. I keep meaning to make a simple block that you could put against the door that would keep it open a few inches.

Otherwise, not an issue, just one of the nuances of the aircraft.

Glenn

When good friend of mine first came for a ride in my 601P, his only comment was:

"You know you've 'arrived' in aviation when you get to sit in front of the propellers"

Here's the card that was in my 601P/Superstar 700 (with intercoolers) when I bought it. It's usually pretty close:

I resemble that remark. :-)

Now if I could get the engines even further back...

Runway performance??
Useful load?

A cousin of mine used to own one and said it was the easiest twin to fly on one engine.

I'm off in 1800-2500', depending on weight, wind, etc.
If I'm going to take off at 6000#, I plan on a minimum runway length of 5,000'.
A 601P can land on a runway shorter than it can take off on.

Most planes (601P) are around 4300# MTOW is 6000#

A 700 has a MTOW of 6315
A 702 has a MTOW of 6850!

It is an easy airplane to fly, if you are willing to fly to a certain level of precision.

Is it true you have to put the gear out in straight and level flight?

I've only heard rumours...
