Rocky - Did you really mean blue line? I suspect you either meant red line (Vmc) or blue line is a whole lot less in the stol 421s... My blue line is 111kts. While Ive got you: any issues with operating a 421 off grass/dirt? I've never done it with mine and there are some strips I'd like to try... Robert Robert, I would love to see your bird. let me know if you ever need a safety pilot!

Good catch, I meant to say I rotate 10kts above red line which is 80kts. My blue line with 10 degrees is 89kts. The manual says start rotating at 77kts which it will easily do but unless I need to I like the extra comfort of rotating past blue line. But with the flaps in the 10 degree position and these speeds it is ready to fly, I do not have that rotate drag feeling, it is climbing
I have landed at a few grass strips up in Washington but nowhere enough times to through out any advise. Dirt strips many times. On those I am ready to move the second those props start spinning because they are getting nicked if you don't. Cycle props while moving and only at about 1200 RPM or lower. And with the STOL I can land a little less then 90kts lighter weights

Doug, Congratulations on your new (to-you) C340. I believe you will love the 340 - it is fast, capable and a pleasure to fly. I used my plane for business and flew it 500+ hours per year (2-3 times per week) and never had to cancel a trip for any reason. After I bought mine, I spent several months working out kinks/upgrading avionics/P&I and cleaning up squawks - an effort which resulted in making it an extremely reliable, nearly all-weather business tool. If you need any help or have any questions, I would be delighted to help. I also have some standardized procedures which I'd be happy to share (may need to be adjusted to the STOL version). Enjoy!

Doug, I strongly urge you to take that 340 to Queretaro, Mexico after you get the avionics installed so Alex can show you first hand what knows about C340s. Oh, and be sure Lea and I are in the backseat of that thing when you go!

Edit:! I just realized that my avatar looks a lot like ----> :bud: I think we need to put together a BT caravan to Mexico.

Yep. My criteria - Beach Place where my gals can run wild and have fun. Maybe the oldest one can learn to dive. The rest is negotiable!
