Yeah I get what you're saying but in the case of Tom Cruise you're never watching a character, you're always watching Tom Cruise. For me at least, that makes it difficult to suspend disbelief and write off the cult of Scientology as the backing store. Watch this...

I don't have a problem with anything Tom Cruise says in this video. He's obviously a very smart person and very driven. He believes what he believes. Who am I to tell him he's wrong? Nobody else has any better answers as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping the Large Hadron Collider gives us some more answers once they crank it back up.

Just watched the video again. Did it say he did the stunt 8 times? That's incredible!

I'm thinking the first couple were to get the shot. After that, he kept saying he could do better because it became fun!

Anyone trying to sell me on any religion sounds that way to me.

Did you watch the Bill Burr video? The magical stories of ones religion seem normal because you heard them when you were a kid. Now you're an adult and you hear other religions' stories and they sound crazy. All the stories are crazy!

I didn't intend to violate BT rules as I don't see Scientology as a religion, more of a dangerous cult masquerading as a religion, so will need to continue that discussion over beers some day maybe.

Only a bit off topic..... Tom Cruise will play the character of Barry Seal in the movie about the Iran-Contra/Mena Connection. Y'all remember, guns, drugs, secret training ops, and etc........
I don't like Tom Cruise, but he is a great actor., and I watch the movies he 's in. I like his character in most every movie he's starred in. He is no Barry Seal. That'll be a tough pill to swallow, although it is just a fictional movie, so why not Tom?

Wow

Tough crowd. :stir:

Back to our boy Tom. I too enjoy his movies, despite the fact that he shows every indication that he's a nut job.

His saving grace, as it relates to this forum, is that he's a pilot and has owned or owns 3 to 5 jets and several other great planes including a P-51, and a Waco.

I heard he flies a single engine because he feels it's as safe as a twin.

He hasn't earned enough Scientology "thetans" to qualify to fly a twin yet.

Thought he was ok as Reacher, but after reading the books where Reacher is about 6'5" and 250 hard to watch the movie when Cruise is about 5'8" and 170.

Same reason I think Cruise was poor choice to play Barry Seal. John Goodman would have been a good one. Most folks won't know or care; it has been 30 years.

Cruise is a product of Hollywood and most of what comes out of Hollywood is crap. I could care less if he does his own stunts. He should do them for what he gets paid. I quit watching his movies along with John Travolta movies as I do not agree with what they stand for.

Todd, I'm going on 18 years without television. No cable, no antenna, no satellite, no Netflix. It's been a blessing. We have ONE TV in the family room, and the only movies watched are bought or rented. So, I can easily grasp your opinion of ANYTHING Hollywood.

Edit to add......My Darlin Companion just reminded me that it's 19 years this month without television. The older I get, the less accurate my recollection of "time"......
