Garmin, pay attention and fix this issue, its annoying. Michael, What I don't understand is why my #2 radio does not have this problem. Also, my #2 radio doesn't sound like I am talking through a can. One thing I really don't understand is why they would make the squelch and side tone a menu item that requires the GTN to be powered down. That is very inconvenient.

Whenever you are ready I will be happy to take 66818 and put her back in the stable next to the twin bo.

Todd, so what are you think now about deice? I have the same choices. Either TKS if I can get the panels, or the RDD thermawing. I was pretty reluctant to consider the thermawing due to bad reviews. But seems to now be mostly due to two issues. Poor installation creating over heating, and old style controllers. The people I have talked to that have it now say it works as advertised. It's not TKS, but doesn't have the speed penalty like TKS. Plan on 32-35k installed. But for us in the winter a necessity for layer punching. With deice the new G3X and speed prop that thing would be the most awesome 2 seater.

I don't think TKS will be an option since there are so few Glasairs flying, so I might have to go Therm-x. The ice season will be over in a few months, so I'm going to take some time to think about it.

It is cheaper to just move South than it is to install de-ice on an airplane.

Wow, what a system!!! We need this in our certified planes. Todd, I think you will end up liking this view with the tapes the best. It's less cluttered and incidentally now looks just like a G500/600. The wings level feature on the a/p is neat. I flew a Cirrus for a while with the DFC, it had that. If you get disoriented, just hit that and boom you now have some time to sort things out. Probably something to teach your wife in case of emergency. Awesome panel!
