Do you know for certain that the G3X will work with a GDL-88? The only documentation I could find was for a G3X connected to a GDL39.
Thanks,
Geoff
I don't, in fact i'm certain it won't- but that's just my point, GDL88/GDL69 = certified source, GDL39 = experimental If I can only change/input flight plans on the GTN's, then I don't care about the weather display on the G3X as much- ideally of course I would want both, which is what I think you're asking, but no the GDL88 or GDL69 data does not share to G3X per my research.

Mine was in the exact same spot in my RV-7A, and I had nothing but trouble. It read wrong all the time when in motion. Best place is usually on the underside of the wing. You want it: a) not in an intake duct and b) not in the prop slip stream
There's a significant amount of discussion on the RV board about that. I was wondering about that. May have to change the location. We will try it for now. Thanks for the info.

make sure you do the same If you look you will see that there is tons of room behind the panel. They finished wiring today and will power up tomorrow.

How much more would a 30 year old A36, V35, B55, etc be worth if you could have dual 10 inch screens with dual ADARHS, GTN, ADS-b in-out, synthetic vision, engine monitor, and digital autopilot custom programmable and able to have troubleshooting through the touchscreen for $50k including all new panels?
There is no reason the system you see here should not be available today in any certified plane.

But to each their own.. It should be an "option" at the "real" cost of technology. Todd that's awesome! You are correct! Just think of everything you get. Big screens, redundant ADAHAR units, traffic, weather, ADS-b compliant, engine monitoring system far superior to anything out there, and the biggest safety feature - A NEW autopilot that is infinitely adjustable through software to match the airframe it is being installed in. If servos go bad they are $800 each and the G3X screen is the autopilot, so no computers, amplifiers, extra connections, etc. All of this is backed up by a Lithium Ion battery pack that costs $250 and will run the entire panel including autopilot for over an hour after the aircraft battery and alternator fail. The backup is automatic. No more $3k problematic 2nd alternator installs or expensive "certified" battery backups. Cirrus took the first step in truly modernizing GA aircraft with a composite design that is fast and efficient along with increased safety. The next step is the FAA allowing proven modern avionics used in thousands of experimentals sharing the same skies as certified planes be available to those certified planes.
